Under 21 CFR 101.36, the Supplement Facts panel has to be headed exactly "Supplement Facts," in a type size larger than any other print on the label, and formatted with specific placement for serving size, servings per container, each dietary ingredient, and percent daily value where established.
The format itself is regulated. A designer cannot freely reflow it to fit the space available.
Beyond the panel itself, the label needs a statement of identity declaring the product a "Dietary Supplement," net quantity of contents, an "other ingredients" list in descending order by weight for anything not covered in the Supplement Facts panel, and the name and place of business of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor. Any structure/function claim also requires the standard DSHEA disclaimer language.
Multi-ingredient formulas, proprietary blends, and products with long ingredient lists are where the required panel plus supporting content exceeds what a standard bottle label panel comfortably holds. Smaller sizes, 30-count and travel formats, run out first.
FDA provides alternate formatting provisions under 21 CFR 101.36(i) for products with genuinely insufficient label space. That is a compliance accommodation with its own formatting rules.
Confirm the actual formulated Supplement Facts content, ingredient count and all, before finalizing bottle diameter and label panel size. This matters most on smaller-format and travel-size SKUs where space is already tight.
A label redesign after the container is tooled costs far more than sizing the container correctly the first time. Decoration method also affects usable panel area, so lock both together.
